Wesleyan Art Guild

The Wesleyan Art Guild is a student organization that provides students with the opportunity to travel off campus to various cities to visit art museums, galleries and exhibitions.  Fine arts majors as well as students with an interest in the arts are members of the organization.  Funding is made available through the Wesleyan Council on Student Affairs and the fine arts department.  Recently the students traveled to Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, and Columbus, where they visited prestigious venues such as SOFA in Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the MOMA in New York, as well as the National Gallery and Hirschhorn Museum in Washington, and the Wexner Center in Columbus.

The Art Guild has also arranged open figure-drawing sessions in Edgar Hall.  Annually the Guild oversees the operation of the Werner Student Art Gallery, exhibitions, and schedule.

The Werner Student Art Gallery, operated independently by the Student Art Guild, is the showcase for student exhibitions throughout each year. Exhibitions are chosen by a student committee for each upcoming year. Spring Juried Show

The Juried Student Show, held annually in the Gallery 2001 at the Beeghley Library, showcases many of the finest pieces created by our students. Each spring the students invite three outside jurors to campus who pass judgment on the entries. The jurors select work for the show and choose those pieces that merit awards. The students oversee all aspects of the event, from preparing the gallery space and hanging the show to overseeing the reception.
